An ‘qualification module group’ is a grouping of modules from which students must complete a specified number of credits in order to satisfy a particular rule for completion of a qualification. The group might contain ‘compulsory’ modules, i.e. the rule requires the student to complete all modules within the group. Or, it might contain ‘optional’ modules, i.e. the rule requires the student to complete a specified number of points from a range of modules.
A ‘global group’ is a generic group used by a number of qualifications. Examples of these are the groups used to check that the required overall number of points at Levels 1, 2 and 3 have been completed, e.g. that at least 120 points at Level 3 have been completed as part of a Bachelors Degree.
