There are many ways to find an item or item edition record on Planet:
The item search gives you a better set of options if you don't know the exact item details. You can find all items used by a module for a specific presentation, for example. You can include or exclude admin items from your result and filter by item type.
If you know the public code of the item, you can enter that in the topmost field. That is all you will need. Click on Go and you will asked to choose which screen you want to go to. The options on the button bar are the ones below.
If you do not know the public code, you can find for your item by searching more broadly.
When you have completed this first stage, you will see a screen with all the item or item editions that fulfill the criteria you have chosen. You can then put a tick in the checkbox to the left of the item short title and click on the button that will take you to your chosen screen.
Notice that the red 'Return to selection' button on the far left allows you to return to the previous screen, which still contains the criteria you indicated, in case you want to modify them for another search.
The beige 'Return to..' button will take you to the screen you used last, as indicated above, but it will fill the screen with data for the item you have chosen by ticking the check box.
Notice that the Back to selection button on the far left allows you to return to the previous screen, which still contains the criteria you indicated, in case you want to modify them for another search.
If you are looking for items owned either by administrative units or CAUs, choose the relevant unit from the drop down list instead of entering a module code.
Note that whereas item editions owned by modules will include the first and last use of the item edition by that module, the first and last use columns that you see when you ask for items belonging to a unit show the overall first and last use for that item edition. This means the very first and very last use of the item. It does not tell you anything about the item's use on a particular module. If you want to see that, go to the item edition record for the item and look at the list of Modules using this item edition.
