Virtual mailings are collections of material approved for online use. A mailing is created with a type of ‘virtual’ and web or electronic mailing items are added to them. Their purpose is to produce a listing of online items and their go-live dates for LTS. The warehouse ignores them.
As virtual mailings are similar to physical mailings, a special copying screen (CS115) is used by PPAs in each CAU to create the virtual mailings. This produces a first-stage copy based on an existing physical mailing; the virtual mailing will then most likely need to be tweaked in CS111 if other items are to be included. For more explanation of how virtual mailings are created on Planet, see the 'Rolling-forward & copying mailings' page in the Planet Item Guide.
